She is wearing disposable environment friendly nappies for now because the washable ones I bought are still too big for her little tush!
Last week was a tough week, she's exactly 3 weeks and 3 days old today, and maybe it's the new technique of co-sleeping I've been trying (thank you Tara!), but so far I am able to sleep 2 to 3 hours in a row during the night, with her next to me. She'll start squirming around and that'll wake me up and be my cue for nursing time. At first I was afraid of crushing her or pushing her off the bed and not noticing it because I've been so sleep-deprived, and then I had people tell me, "You shouldn't do that! That'll give her the habit of needing to sleep with you and will be very hard to get rid of. You should just let her cry it out." That is MUCH easier said than done, and anyway, I don't want to let my baby cry it out, not at this age anyway. Maybe once she's over 6 months but I just feel like it's wrong to do that to a little itty bitty baby. So after my first few successful attempts on the couch, she now sleeps with us in our bed .
Besides fussing, eating, sleeping, and pooping, Madeleine doesn't do very much else for the moment. But I swear as of yesterday when she is fed and cleaned, she will really listen for a little while when I talk to her, and even smile while awake (and not those "sleepy smiles" where she smiles or laughs right after nursing, eyes closed before dosing off). And she has started to lay quietly by herself sometimes (for a maximum of a few minutes, to my despair hahaha). Most of the time when she wakes it's fussing which then means nursing.
Speaking of which, she just woke up........ goodbye world! I'm off to being a mommy again.
