One of R.'s classmates from back in uni who now works for a pregnancy/mom website (Magicmaman) asked him if I wanted to participate in a "future mommy make-over session" for their website. When I first heard of it, I was super eager because I've always wanted to do a make-over session (and this one was going to be free!). So I said yes, but that I didn't want to cut my hair that has taken me months to grow out, and she said it was fine because it was to promote a new line of organic hair dye anyway.
I went to bed all excited, and then I started thinking, "Hmmm...how organic is organic? "Isn't dying your hair really for bad you, wouldn't my scalp absorb all that dye and make it go straight to my placenta? Should I be dying my hair right now? I never dye my hair...How toxic is this going to be?! OMGOMGOMG!!! " And I completely freaked out thinking my baby was going to have a clubbed foot and I wanted OUT!!!
R. told me to get a grip, and I eventually did after two days of deep breaths and lots of googling like "hair dye & pregnancy bad" and "organic hair dye & pregnancy bad."
I agreed to do it in the end and I'm actually really happy I did (though I did have to bid farewell to my long locks --- but I really don't regret it, hair grows back anyway!).

Jenny&Paola Hair Salon has been in the 5th arrondissement of Paris since September of last year. The salon used to be a furniture store, so there's a twinge of that Marais district attitude about the place, a mix between hobo and chic. I was a little intimidated when I pushed the big wooden doors open. They offer clay-based dyes tinted with natural, organic pigments like safran, ginger, curcuma, tomato, and lavender. They are 100% ammoniac-free.
This is Jenny (mother) and Paola (daughter), originally from Cartagena, Columbia. They've been in Paris for over 10 years now, and are super professional in what they do. Jenny studied my hair color and told me my roots were much darker than my tips so she wanted to bring a bit of sunlight to the roots. She was striving for a very natural look, and that was just fine by me 'cuz I'm a natural girl :-)! She wanted to give me a low-maintenance hair cut, with enough length for me to tie back so I won't have my hair in my face when I change nappies 50 times a day.
I didn't do a before and after picture because there apparently will be a video coming out (if the footage was good enough) soon, so I'll be posting that up. Plus, there was a whole make up part after the hair cut, but it was slightly inconvenient for me to take pictures. All that should be in the video though! Let me just show you how natural and soft my highlights were (I had to play with the contrast a little to exagerate the color) :D...

I will definitely go back to get highlights done again! And maybe next time, I'll try a very different hair cut. Who knows?
The bonus Chez Jenny&Paola (aside from super friendly staff):
1) They have a manucure area where they use toxin-free nail polish (like OPI).
2) When you get your hair washed they have massaging armchairs.
